Universal Animal Welfare Society is founded by Dr Hanumant Shelke (M.V. Sc) & Dr Swati Shelke (BVSC&A.H.) to meet their compassion of reaching out to animals in distress and need.

Reaching out to animals in pain was always the shared passion of Dr Hanumant and Dr Swati Shelke because of which both are veterinarians today, but they took the next step of starting a full-fledged hospital and NGO to fulfill this dream. And thus, started the journey of Universal Animal Welfare Society f rom our first location in Beed district, Maharashtra in 2009 to our present location since 2016 in Malad (west), Mumbai.

Our Story

Today after 10 years Universal Animal Welfare Society has sterilized 50,000+ Dogs and 2000+ Cats, vaccinated 1,50,000+ stray dogs and rescued 1000’s of animals. these are just a few to mention.

Universal Animal Welfare Society is not only an hospital & Ngo but a 2nd home for all animals, the first place being our hearts. We the family at Universal Animal Welfare Society are always open to you and your furry babies whether they are in your homes or on the streets, we are just one call or message away from you.

We promise to take the extra effort, go the extra mile, reach out where others cannot go even in rain and stormy weather in our quest to make a difference in the lives of animals. From Nov 2020 we started three big, all equipped units with admit capacity of 700 dogs (350 dogs each unit) in pune.

Our USP

  • EMERGENCY RESCUE MISSIONS : we not only carryABC programs but also do emergency rescue . RECENTLY we had resuced a dog fallen 100 m deep pit from ANDHERI within 2hrs. Other help did not succeed but our team did it.
  • SNAKE BITE CASE : in the wee hours in mid night we rescued a lactating mother. dog bitten by Russell viper. We immediately gave anti venom and treated her Now the mother and her pups are happy together.
  • OUR ABC OPERATIONS ARE SO SUCCESSFUL THAT our post op is hardly for 2 days and the animal recovery is quick.
  • SOCIAL WELFARE PROGRAMS : we carry out social activity for our staff such as training camps, we celebrate festival birthdays.

    • We work from CORPORATION level to GRAM PANCHAYAT LEVEL.

    we give employment for tribal people, train them And make them capable to earn their own living, and boost their confidence.
